Dubai, UAE – Dubai Basketball has announced a major strategic partnership with Bauerfeind, the internationally recognised sports medicine and orthopaedic support specialist, for the 2025/26 season. The collaboration brings world-class expertise in performance, protection and recovery into the UAE’s growing professional basketball landscape.
Bauerfeind, a global healthcare brand known for its German-engineered braces, supports and compression products, has decades of experience in movement science and elite sport. Trusted by top-level athletes worldwide, the company is also an official medical support partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, continuing a 20-year association with the Olympic movement.
Through the partnership, Bauerfeind will integrate its medical and performance expertise into Dubai Basketball’s high-performance environment. The club — the city’s first professional team competing in two international leagues, the EuroLeague and ABA League — will receive professional trauma items and specialised start-up kits containing performance and recovery products designed specifically for the physical demands of professional basketball.
A key focus of the collaboration is injury prevention and recovery, with all solutions grounded in evidence-based sports medicine and tailored to individual athletes. The move aligns with Dubai Basketball’s ambition to operate at the highest international standards while contributing to the UAE’s broader vision of building a world-class sports ecosystem supported by advanced sports science and athlete care.
Bauerfeind has maintained a presence in the Middle East since 2008, with its regional division serving the UAE, GCC and North African markets. The company works closely with healthcare professionals, athletes and institutions to deliver evidence-based medical solutions, and this new partnership further strengthens its commitment to advancing professional sport in the region.
Karl Schmidt, Regional Director, Bauerfeind Middle East and Africa, highlighted the demands of the sport, saying: “Basketball is one of the most physically demanding sports, where performance, resilience, and long-term health must work in balance. This partnership with Dubai Basketball is not just about support on game day; it’s about standing with athletes through every training session, every recovery, and every return to the court.”
He added that the collaboration supports Dubai’s wider sporting ambitions: “Through this collaboration, we are bringing decades of medical and sports science expertise, reinforcing our commitment to protecting movement and supporting elite-level performance at the highest standards.”
Nick Oakley, Co-Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Basketball, said the partnership reflects shared values. “Partnering with Bauerfeind brings together two organisations that share a deep commitment to performance and long-term excellence. Bauerfeind’s global leadership in sports medicine strengthens our high-performance environment and reflects Dubai Basketball’s ambition to align with the very best in international sport.”
The partnership will be activated throughout the 2025/26 season, with Bauerfeind embedded within the club’s performance and recovery programmes. In addition, a series of arena and digital activations are planned to promote athlete care initiatives while enhancing brand visibility.
