Fujairah, UAE – The Executive Council of World Taekwondo held an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday in the Emirate of Fujairah, marking the first official gathering of council members elected during the recent elections in the People’s Republic of China. The high-level meeting was chaired by Dr Choue Chung-won, President of World Taekwondo, and took place at Al Bahar Hotel and Resort.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Fujairah International Open Taekwondo Championships and the Arab Cup Championship, both organised under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
Council members discussed a range of strategic and organisational matters central to the federation’s future, emphasising the importance of this initial phase in laying the foundations for the new term. Deliberations focused on strengthening World Taekwondo’s institutional framework and enhancing its global presence and influence.

Key technical and administrative issues were also addressed, including the development of technical regulations and the advancement of approved championships and programmes aimed at supporting the international growth and development of taekwondo.
The choice of Fujairah as the host city for this landmark meeting highlights the emirate’s rising stature on the international sports stage. It also reflects growing global confidence in Fujairah’s capability to host major sporting events and international meetings, supported by its advanced infrastructure and proven organisational expertise.
