Sharjah, UAE: Sharjah’s healthcare landscape has just received a major boost with the opening of Medcare Hospital Sharjah, the newest addition to the UAE’s leading premium healthcare network. Located on Shaikh Saqr Al Qasimi Street, this purpose-built, 90-bed multidisciplinary facility aims to serve the evolving needs of Sharjah and the wider Northern Emirates.
The hospital comes at a time when the region is experiencing population growth, demographic shifts, and healthcare policy changes—most notably the rollout of mandatory health insurance, which has expanded access to quality medical care. With these changes, Medcare anticipates a notable rise in patient volumes.
Alisha Moopen, Managing Director & Group CEO of Aster DM Healthcare, Said “Medcare Hospital Sharjah embodies our strategic response to rising clinical demand and changing healthcare utilisation patterns across the Northern Emirates. We understand the increased need in the region for enhanced tertiary care infrastructure, as more residents seek both routine and complex medical services locally.”
“We have witnessed tremendous growth since the launch of our first Medcare Hospital in Sharjah. The strong and sustained demand for our premium healthcare services reflects the trust and confidence that the community placed in us and also underscores the evolving healthcare needs of the region. As leaders in healthcare delivery, we see it as our responsibility to anticipate these needs and proactively invest in infrastructure and capabilities,” she added.
“This expansion into a second multispecialty hospital is a strategic decision, more than just adding beds or services. Our vision is to ensure that every individual in Sharjah and the Northern Emirates has access to world-class, patient-centred tertiary healthcare close to home,” Alisha further said.
Dr. Shanila Laiju, Group CEO of Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, highlighted that the new hospital integrates multiple specialties under one roof, focusing on patient safety, efficiency, and continuity of care. “With advanced diagnostics, structured care pathways, and specialised clinical teams, patients no longer need to travel outside the Northern Emirates for complex medical services,” she explained.
Medcare’s growth extends beyond hospitals. In 2024 and early 2025, the group launched 11 new Medcare Medical Centres, bringing the total to 26 across Dubai and Sharjah. With an investment of AED 60 million, these community-focused facilities reflect the rising preference for accessible, high-quality care.
The Sharjah hospital marks Medcare’s third hospital opening in just three years. The group plans further expansion, including quaternary care services in 2026 and a new greenfield hospital in Dubai within the next two years.
On the technology front, Medcare is integrating AI in cardiology diagnostics and breast imaging, alongside the rollout of next-generation robotic surgical systems across multiple specialties before 2026.
The new Sharjah hospital offers care across 29 specialties, including emergency and trauma services, ICU, NICU, and PICU units, as well as advanced radiology and oncology services. A PET CT unit will further enhance its cancer diagnostics capabilities. The hospital is designed in line with international standards, with patient-centric facilities and digital care pathways that streamline treatment while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
The launch of Medcare Hospital Sharjah represents a significant milestone in the group’s expansion strategy, underscoring its ongoing commitment to delivering premium healthcare services and fostering healthier, more resilient communities across the UAE.
