ICC Highlights Role of Global Standards at Housing & Sustainable Urban Development Forum in Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaThe International Code Council (ICC) participated in the Housing and Sustainable Urban Development Forum, Saudi Arabia, held on 11–12 February 2026 at the JW Marriott Hotel Riyadh, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss innovation and regulatory development in the Kingdom’s housing sector.

As part of the forum’s agenda, Mohamed Amer, Managing Director of ICC MENA, joined a high-level panel on strategic policy and evolving standards shaping regulatory frameworks and Saudi building codes for sustainable housing. During the session, Amer discussed how international building codes can be effectively adapted to local needs while maintaining globally recognized safety and sustainability principles. He also emphasized the importance of enforcement capacity, stakeholder engagement and continuous capacity building to ensure that building regulations deliver tangible impact.
