Abu Dhabi: In a move reflecting the UAE’s enduring spirit of generosity, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has approved a contribution of AED 100 million from Erth Zayed Philanthropies to support the “Mother of the Nation Endowment for Orphans.” The initiative, launched by Awqaf Abu Dhabi under the patronage of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aims to create lasting support systems for orphaned children across the count
The approval comes under the directives of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, highlighting the nation’s continued prioritisation of humanitarian action and social welfare.
The contribution further builds on the legacy of giving championed by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, while strengthening the country’s reputation as a global leader in philanthropy and community development.
Commenting on the initiative, Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said the endowment reflects values of compassion, dignity, and solidarity long associated with Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak. He noted that, guided by the leadership’s vision, the UAE remains committed to nurturing a culture of sustainable giving that protects opportunities for future generations.
He emphasised that the endowment represents a shared responsibility to support orphans nationwide, focusing on key areas such as education, healthcare, and personal empowerment to ensure every child is equipped to succeed and contribute meaningfully to society.
Designed as a sustainable waqf platform, the initiative will channel investments through an approved endowment mechanism overseen by Awqaf Abu Dhabi. The model is intended to secure long-term funding while directing resources to programmes with measurable social impact.
Officials say the contribution also aligns with Erth Zayed Philanthropies’ broader mission to support national priorities centred on families and children, while encouraging stronger community partnerships to uplift vulnerable groups across the UAE.
