Abu Dhabi: The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award, an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has entered the final evaluation stage of its 22nd cycle, reinforcing its position as one of the UAE’s leading platforms recognising business excellence and impact across the emirate.

This year’s cycle recorded strong participation, with more than 230 applications submitted — marking an increase of over 80 per cent compared with the previous edition. The rise in applications reflects growing interest from businesses and entrepreneurs across Abu Dhabi’s economic landscape.

Participation figures show a diverse mix of applicants. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups accounted for nearly 60 per cent of total submissions, while more than 10 per cent of company applications came from Al Ain and the Al Dhafra Region. The numbers highlight the award’s expanding reach across sectors and regions of the emirate.

Under its updated framework, the award focuses on measuring the tangible impact of private sector contributions across seven key areas: talent development, technology, community and society, SME leadership, supply chains, export growth, and entrepreneurship. The framework reflects the critical role of the private sector in driving sustainable economic growth and strengthening Abu Dhabi’s competitive business environment.

Established by the Abu Dhabi Chamber in 1999 and named in honour of the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the award has evolved into a national platform promoting innovation, sustainability, and meaningful economic contribution. It also reflects the leadership’s vision of positioning the private sector as a key partner in the UAE’s long-term development.

In its current cycle, the award goes beyond recognising organisational performance, focusing instead on how companies and individuals translate initiatives into measurable economic and societal impact. The evaluation looks at innovation, capability building, market expansion, and the ability to create long-term value for Abu Dhabi’s economy.

The assessment process follows a structured approach beginning with digital registration, followed by an initial review and impact interviews for shortlisted participants. Independent assessors and judges oversee each stage to ensure transparency, impartiality, and credibility.
