News DeskDubai, UAE: From Tarzan, who was raised by apes, to Mowgli, who grew up among wolves, pop culture has long loved stories of children brought up by the wild. Now, there’s a new name joining that list — Gigi, a spirited 13-year-old who was raised by mountain goats.
That unusual setup is at the heart of Goat Girl, a new coming-of-age comedy set to premiere on Cartoon Network HD across the MENA region on March 9.
The series follows Gigi, a fearless and energetic teenager whose life has been shaped by her upbringing in the mountains. Raised by her goat parents, Nanette and Billy, Gigi has grown into someone who is bold, stubborn, spontaneous and completely unapologetic about who she is. But as she gets older, her parents decide it is time for her to step beyond the only world she has ever known.
That means facing what may be her toughest challenge yet: school — and, perhaps even more daunting, spending time with actual humans for the very first time.
At its core, Goat Girl is a light-hearted but heartfelt story about identity, belonging and learning to embrace what makes you different. Gigi may not always understand human rules or social customs, but she approaches every situation with honesty, determination and the kind of headstrong confidence only a goat could teach.
Rather than seeing the human world as something intimidating, Gigi treats it like just another mountain waiting to be climbed. Through her journey, the show explores friendship, vulnerability and self-acceptance, while reminding young viewers that being different can be a strength.
Produced by Daily Madness, MIAM! Animation and Thuristar, with the participation of Warner Bros. Discovery Kids & Family EMEA, the animated series leans into themes of finding your herd and knowing that where you come from does not define your worth.
The show was created by Shannon George and Kristina Yee, directed by Krystal Georgiou, and co-directed by Lauri Saunders and Matthieu Giner.
Bringing Gigi’s world to life is a strong voice cast led by Rebecca Hanssen as Gigi, alongside Belinda Stewart-Wilson as Nanette, Steven Kynman as Billy, Sebastian Charles as Bo, Shannon Hayes as Saige, Mitchell Zhangazha as Sully, Jessie May as Fern, Brigid Leahy as Kallista and Marisa Dargahi as Parsley.
Visually, Goat Girl stands out with expressive 2D animation and a bold, playful style that matches its offbeat humour and lively characters. The first season will feature 26 episodes, each running 11 minutes, set in a world where the grass really does seem greener — and is sometimes eaten, too.
For viewers across the MENA region, Goat Girl promises a fun, quirky and uplifting new adventure when it arrives on Cartoon Network HD on March 9.
