Dubai, UAE – The “Positive Spirit” community initiative by Dubai Police successfully concluded the Dubai Police Community Basketball Championship for expatriate communities, featuring ten participating teams. The event was a collaborative effort involving Al Muraqqabat Police Station, various Dubai Police departments, Dubai Police’s Council for Empowering People of Determination, BelRamaitha Club, Dubai Sports Council, Jammers Sports, and Adam Vital Hospital.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Kenneth Jim Joseph, the Deputy Consul General of the Republic of the Philippines, along with key figures including Colonel Abdullah Tarsh, Director of Administrative Affairs in the General Department for Community Happiness, and Omar Al Kindi from Dubai Sports Council, among others.
The winning teams received recognition from the Deputy Consul General of the Philippines and Colonel Abdullah Tarsh. Awards were also presented to outstanding coaches, players, technical managers, and teams. The event also paid tribute to the sponsors and collaborators who contributed to the championship’s success.
Colonel Abdullah Tarsh emphasized that the championship aligns with Dubai Police’s strategic objectives, prioritizing community happiness, safety, quality of life, social harmony, and values of tolerance and respect.
Furthermore, Fatima Bouhjeir noted that the championship featured awareness lectures, educating the audience about using Dubai Police’s toll-free numbers for emergencies (999) and non-emergencies (901). Attendees were also informed about the “Victim Support” service, traffic safety laws, and a special “Sign Language” contest presented by Mohammed Al Hajjaji, Secretary of Dubai Police’s Council for Empowering People of Determination.
