Dubai, UAE – Hussain Muhammad has officially taken over as the Consul-General of Pakistan for Dubai and Northern Emirates, succeeding Hassan Afzal Khan, who concluded his tenure in June. Muhammad previously served at the Pakistan Consulate-General in Dubai between 2011 and 2015.

Consul-generals typically serve in their missions for a three-year term before being relocated to either Pakistan or other international destinations, adhering to global diplomatic practices.

The United Arab Emirates is home to a substantial Pakistani diaspora, numbering at 1.7 million residents, with a majority residing in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Given the significant presence of Pakistanis in the UAE and the robust trade ties between the two countries, fostering strong diplomatic relations remains a top priority for the Pakistani government, leading to frequent bilateral visits by senior government officials.

Hussain Muhammad, a seasoned career diplomat, entered the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2006 and has held crucial positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad. His most recent assignment was as the Deputy Chief of Protocol at the ministry, and he has previously served in diplomatic roles at Pakistan missions in Kabul and Geneva.
