Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Police, in collaboration with “Dubai Mall” and the Dubai Club for People of Determination, commemorated International White Cane Day with an awareness march aimed at fostering the integration of visually impaired individuals into society. Over 70 community members, including key figures like Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Mr. Mohammad Ahmad Al Matrooshi, and Captain Mohammad Bin Shafia, participated in the event.
The march, organized by the Council for Empowering People of Determination and the Positive Spirit Initiative, featured contributions from Hamaya school students, the musical band of Dubai Police, and the police mascot “Amna” from the Security Awareness Department.
Ms. Fatima Bouhajir, the General Coordinator of the Positive Spirit Initiative and a member of Dubai Police’s Council for Empowering People of Determination, emphasized that the event aimed to reinforce values of tolerance, unity, and social cohesion while educating the community on how to interact with the blind and assist them in public areas.
Mr. Mohammad Al Matrooshi, General Manager of Dubai Mall, expressed his happiness in celebrating International White Cane Day and praised Dubai Police’s efforts to raise awareness about the rights of the visually impaired and promote their integration into society.
The event concluded with Ms. Fatima Bouhajir presenting a commemorative shield to Mr. Mohammad Al Matrooshi and Mr. Jamal Al Shaafar in recognition of their contributions to the march’s success.
