Dubai, UAE – The Hemaya International Centre, an extension of the General Department for Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police, joined forces with the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Positive Spirit Initiative, and several other partners to host an enlightening awareness event for the residents of Uptown Mirdif residential complex.

The primary objective of this event was to acquaint the community with the wide spectrum of services offered by Dubai Police aimed at enhancing security and safety. The event, which took place at the Uptown Mirdif residential complex, brought together students, parents, and the general public to shed light on the critical roles, security services, traffic regulations, and community outreach programs of the Dubai Police.

Colonel Dr Abdulrahman Sharaf Al Muamari, Director of the Hemaya International Centre, commended the unceasing dedication of Dubai Police’s awareness teams, who actively engage with schools, universities, and residential complexes throughout Dubai. Their mission is to educate students, parents, and the public about the multifaceted services provided by Dubai Police.

First Lieutenant Hamed Mohammed Al Rashidi of the Hemaya International Centre delivered a compelling talk, highlighting Article 89 of the UAE’s Anti-Narcotics Law. This article offers leniency to drug users who willingly seek treatment, exempting them from penalties.

Furthermore, the event underscored the significance of keeping students away from negative influences that could lead them into the perilous world of drug abuse.

As a highlight of the event, students and their guardians had the unique opportunity to interact with Dubai Police patrols, take photographs with them, and witness demonstrations by the K9 police dogs. The event was further enriched with musical performances by the talented band of the Dubai Police Academy.

Major Dr Juma Bilal Al Suwaidi of the General Department of Criminal Investigation expressed his appreciation for the external partners of Dubai Police. He highlighted their vital contributions in organizing and promoting awareness events that effectively convey messages to a diverse audience in multiple languages, thereby significantly reducing the challenges faced by the youth.
