Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police, in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Ministry of Economy, organized a specialized visual workshop titled “The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and Other Intellectual Property Services.” Brigadier Mansoor Yusuf Al Qargawi, Director of the General Department for Administrative Affairs at Dubai Police, inaugurated the workshop, highlighting the significance of collaboration in innovation and intellectual property rights protection.
Key speakers included Christine Bonvallet, Director of the PCT International Cooperation Division, and Walid Abdelnasser, Director of the Arab Countries Division at WIPO. Dr. Ali Al Jazairi, Senior Advisor at the PCT International Division, provided insights into innovation, patents, and WIPO’s services. The workshop covered fundamental aspects of the PCT, including international and national phases, statistics, and timelines.
Samer Al Tarawneh, Legal Advisor on Capacity Building and Technical Assistance at WIPO, discussed the organization’s efforts to strengthen member states’ capacities in preventing intellectual property infringements and promoting a culture of respect for IP rights.
The Ministry of Economy’s Sheikha Abdullah, Technical Examiner of Industrial Property, addressed questions and inquiries from WIPO organizers at the conclusion of the workshop. The event underscored the commitment to fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective measures for intellectual property protection.
