Mumbai, India – Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), the leading sports broadcaster in the Indian subcontinent, has extended its exclusive broadcast rights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in India and surrounding countries. The five-year agreement, effective from January 1, 2024, includes exclusive television and digital media rights for various UFC events through 2028.
The comprehensive rights package comprises exclusive coverage of 42 UFC LIVE events annually, featuring 12 Pay-Per-View (PPV) and 30 Fight Night events, with both Main Card and Preliminary bouts. Additional content such as UFC Countdown, UFC Connected, archive material, and Dana White’s Contender Series is also part of the deal.
Sony Sports Network, the designated platform for MMA fans in the Indian subcontinent, will broadcast UFC events in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The partnership extension solidifies SPNI’s commitment to delivering premium UFC content to fans across the region on Sony Sports Network and SonyLiv.
Notable fighters in the UFC roster, including Israel Adesanya, Leon Edwards, Jon Jones, and others, along with the inclusion of Anshul Jubli and Puja Tomar, the first India-born female fighter, have increased interest in UFC in India.
Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer at SPNI, expressed delight in extending the partnership, emphasizing Sony Sports Network as the go-to destination for MMA fans in the region. Kevin Chang, SVP and Head of Asia at UFC, also expressed excitement about continuing the partnership with Sony Sports Network, recognizing it as the home for UFC in India.
UFC events can be watched on Sony Sports Ten 1 (English), Sony Sports Ten 3 (Hindi), and Sony Sports Ten 4 (Tamil & Telugu) channels. The partnership not only includes live events but also extends to broadcasting the “win and advance” tournament for Asia’s top MMA prospects, ROAD TO UFC, and access to archive content, enriching the engagement of viewers with the sport’s rich history.
