Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police have issued a stern warning to parents, urging them to play an active role in curbing the rise of irresponsible traffic behavior among the youth. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, emphasized the need for vigilance after receiving numerous complaints about reckless driving in Al Khawaneej and the Last Exit area.
Responding to the reports, the department launched a comprehensive traffic campaign resulting in 496 fines and the seizure of 121 vehicles, including cars and motorcycles. Violations included reckless driving, show-off stunts, and driving against traffic flow. Major General Al Mazrouei underlined the zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior, citing Decree No. 30 of 2023, which mandates the impoundment of vehicles to ensure public safety.
The director stressed the importance of parental responsibility, considering safety a shared commitment. He highlighted that reckless drivers face fines up to AED 50,000 for releasing impounded vehicles. Dubai Police encourage community members to report violations promptly through the hotline (901) or the ‘Police Eye’ service on the Dubai Police smart app. The initiative aims to protect lives and properties by addressing the dangers posed by irresponsible driving.
