Abu Dhabi, UAE – MI Emirates showcased exceptional bowling skills as they skittled out Abu Dhabi Knight Riders for a mere 95 runs in 14.1 overs, securing a commanding nine-wicket victory in the sixth match of the DP World ILT20 Season 2 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Trent Boult starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 14 runs, while Akeal Hosein contributed with 2 wickets for 21 runs. Despite a fighting knock of 48 runs by Andre Russell, Muhammad Rohid Khan took 3 wickets for 25 runs, hastening the end of Knight Riders’ innings.

In response, MI Emirates comfortably chased down the target, with Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera providing a solid start. Waseem remained unbeaten on 26, and skipper Nicholas Pooran played a blistering unbeaten innings of 39 off 16 balls, guiding their team to victory with 71 balls to spare.

The win propelled MI Emirates to the top of the table. The Knight Riders’ disastrous batting display began after losing the toss and opting to bat, losing half their side for 22 runs in 6.1 overs. Alishan Sharafu started well but fell for 10, and Boult’s early strikes removed key batsmen. Russell fought valiantly, but the innings ended four runs short of the 100-run mark.

Trent Boult, named Player of the Match, expressed satisfaction with his game plan, emphasizing the importance of exploiting early swing conditions. Knight Riders’ captain Narine urged his players to forget the mishap, acknowledging the pressure after losing four wickets in the powerplay.

MI skipper Nicholas Pooran was delighted with the team’s response and urged consistency for upcoming games. The brief scores reflected MI Emirates’ dominance, winning by 9 wickets after restricting Knight Riders to 95 and comfortably reaching 96 for 1 in 8.1 overs.
