Dubai, UAE – The Medlab Middle East 2024 exhibition and congress in Dubai underscored the critical role of clinical and medical laboratories in healthcare decision-making, with 70% of medical choices relying on laboratory test results, as reported by the CDC. The event, a platform for industry advancement and talent development, featured several competitions and initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and nurturing future medical laboratory professionals.

Mezna Al Ali from the Higher Colleges of Technology clinched the prestigious Medlab Middle East Scientific Poster Competition, earning a valuable research grant from EXPRESSMED Diagnostics & Research. Al Ali’s winning entry delved into the prevalence and correlation of Transfusion-Transmitted Infections (TTIs), highlighting the significance of research in advancing medical knowledge.

The Scientific Poster Competition, covering various research areas including immunology, histopathology, and clinical microbiology, provided a platform for medical lab professionals and final-year students to showcase their research in front of industry experts.

Additionally, the LabQ competition engaged senior graduating students majoring in medical laboratory sciences in the UAE, focusing on pathology and laboratory medicine. Participants from esteemed institutions like the University of Sharjah, Liwa College, and Gulf Medical University competed, with winners set to be announced on the event’s closing day.

Innovation also took center stage at Labpreneur, Medlab Middle East’s start-up competition, featuring ten shortlisted start-ups with groundbreaking concepts in disease management, drug discovery, and lab automation. The winner, to be announced on February 8th, will receive complimentary stand space for Medlab Middle East 2025 and a prestigious award.

With over 900 exhibitors from 40 countries and more than 30,000 visitors from over 180 countries, Medlab Middle East continues its legacy as a premier event in the region. The exhibition, running on February 7th and 8th at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offers a platform for industry education, solutions, and collaboration across eight specialized product categories, driving advancements in healthcare and ensuring a skilled workforce capable of meeting industry demands and enhancing patient outcomes.
