Abu Dhabi Dialogue has focussed on enhancing women jobs along with mitigating labour issues

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Abu Dhabi, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the UAE, extended gratitude to the government of the UAE for hosting the 7th Ministerial Consultation of the Abu Dhabi Dialogue (ADD). Pakistan, currently chairing the ADD, emphasized the significance of the forum in addressing labor mobility issues among its 17 member states from the Gulf and Asia.

Ambassador Tirmizi highlighted the ADD’s role in protecting the rights of migrant workers, stressing the importance of adapting to changing labor demands through innovation and skill diversification. He praised the ADD’s focus on women in green jobs, recognizing their potential to fill critical skills gaps in industries like renewable energy.

Moreover, Ambassador Tirmizi underscored the urgent need for collective efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. He referenced COP28, hosted under the UAE’s presidency, as reaffirming the necessity of addressing climate challenges.

The Ambassador also highlighted emerging priorities within the Abu Dhabi Dialogue, including migration’s relationship with climate change, the health of migrants, and the future of work. These priorities necessitate raising recruitment standards, mutual recognition of skills, technological enhancements in dispute settlement, and fostering international cooperation.

Lastly, Ambassador Tirmizi expressed gratitude on behalf of Pakistan for the support received from the ADD Secretariat and advisory committee during its chairmanship.
