Dubai Police to Launch ‘Sport for Support’ in Ramadan

Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Police, through its Athletes Council, has unveiled the commencement of the ‘Sport for Support’ campaign set to run during the auspicious month of Ramadan. This initiative aims to seamlessly amalgamate sports with philanthropic endeavors, leveraging athletic activities to bolster charitable causes during the holy month. The campaign also seeks to foster community integration through sports events, thereby bolstering social services and humanitarian projects.

In collaboration with the Dar Al Ber Society, Dubai Economy and Tourism, and Dubai Sports Council, the campaign was officially announced during a press conference convened by the Athletes Council at the Dubai Police General Headquarters. Dr. Maryam Anas Al Matroushi, Chairperson of the Athletes Council, along with other distinguished officials including Captain Ahmad bin Thabou Al Falasi and representatives from partnering entities such as Dar Al Ber, Al Wasl Club, and Fitness Time Gym, graced the occasion.

The overarching objective of the ‘Sport for Support’ campaign is to raise 3 million dirhams, targeting over 100,000 individuals through a series of Ramadan sports activities. Those interested in contributing to charitable causes can do so through onsite platforms provided by the Dar Al Ber Charity Association or via a dedicated online link associated with the campaign.

Furthermore, the campaign endeavors to promote collaboration and teamwork within the community while executing various social and humanitarian projects. These projects encompass charitable endowments, support for productive family initiatives, medical assistance, mosque-related endeavors including Quran provision, as well as endeavors such as water well construction and provision of water tanks.

Campaign Sites:

“Iftar with Leaders” Initiative: This initiative offers a unique opportunity for community members to engage and interact with leaders at Dubai Police while participating in suitable exercises for 30 minutes, followed by Iftar with the leaders. The initiative will span over seven days at the Dubai Police Officers Club, targeting various police sectors within the Dubai Police General Command.

ADNOC Pro League: The campaign will feature prominently at the Adnoc Professional League, held at Dubai clubs during Ramadan, with a focus on promoting social accountability, charity values, sports significance, and health and fitness awareness within the community.

Pavilion at NAS Sports Tournament: A dedicated pavilion will be established at the NAS sports tournament, offering direct engagement opportunities with spectators and partners. The NAS sports tournament, renowned for its diverse range of games, including volleyball, wheelchair basketball, running, cycling race, paddle tennis, fencing, jiu-jitsu, and tug of war, holds significant importance during the holy month of Ramadan.

Dubai World Cup: The campaign will be an integral part of the prestigious Dubai World Cup, scheduled for March 30th at the Meydan Racecourse, showcasing the commitment of the Dubai Police towards charitable endeavors on a global platform.

The ‘Sport for Support’ campaign exemplifies Dubai Police’s dedication to fostering community welfare through innovative and inclusive initiatives, marking a significant step towards integrating sports with philanthropy during the holy month of Ramadan.
