Young Golfers Shine at Brighton College Dubai’s Junior Open

Dubai, UAE – Brighton College Dubai, a leading British curriculum school, has proudly announced the triumphant results of its inaugural Brighton College Junior Open, held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Sunday, 18th February.

The event, which attracted 80 participants from across the UAE, including nine pupils from Brighton College Dubai, showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship. Among the highlights were the impressive performances by young golfers across various divisions.

In the Boys Gross Division A, Lukas Astrom of JGE emerged victorious with a stellar performance, clinching the title with a gross 3 over par 75 after a count back against Victor Larsen of TEC. Meanwhile, Hannah Alan of DCGYC secured a clear 3-shot win in the Girls Division A with a remarkable gross 75.

Siddhaan Chhibber of TMGCD dominated the Boys Gross Division B, securing a commanding 9-shot lead over his nearest competitor, Ricardo Bianchi of JGE. Similarly, Ibrahim Rahman of ARG claimed victory in the Boys Net Division A with a net 71, narrowly defeating Samarbir Singh Kochar of JGE.

Ananyaa Sood from TEC successfully defended her title in the Girls Gross Division B against Leia Maccallum of TMGCD. In the Girls Division A, Candice Sauvan of ARGC delivered an outstanding performance, securing the best Net score of the day with a net 65.

The Girls Net Division B witnessed a close competition between Leia Maccallum of TMGCD and Samaira Choudry of EGC, with Leia emerging victorious after a count back with a net 33.

A standout moment of the tournament was Irum Kim’s remarkable hole-in-one, a testament to the young golfer’s skill and precision.

Organized by Brighton College Dubai, the tournament welcomed amateur golfers aged 19 years and below with a valid handicap from Emirates Golf Federation or any affiliated club. The competitive Individual Stroke Play format over 18 holes provided an excellent platform for young talents to showcase their abilities.

Simon Crane, Head Master at Brighton College Dubai, expressed his pride in the pupils’ achievements, emphasizing the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals both academically and athletically.

The awards ceremony and dinner held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club provided a fitting conclusion to the event, where participants, parents, and supporters gathered to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of these young golfers.

The Brighton College Junior Open not only highlighted the exceptional talent within the UAE’s youth but also underscored the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and resilience among young individuals.
