Citi announces head of banking and executive vice chair of bank

Dubai, UAE – Citi has announced the appointment of Viswas (“Vis”) Raghavan as the new Head of Banking and Executive Vice Chair. Raghavan will report directly to CEO Jane Fraser.

In his role as Head of Banking, Raghavan will lead one of Citi’s five core businesses, overseeing Investment, Corporate, and Commercial Banking. As Executive Vice Chair, he will help shape and drive Citi’s firm-wide strategy and assist with key strategic initiatives. He will also join Citi’s Executive Management Team and serve on the Board of Citi Foundation.

Raghavan joins Citi from J.P. Morgan, where he most recently served as Head of Global Investment Banking. He has held various senior roles at J.P. Morgan since joining the firm in 2000, including Co-Head of Global Investment and Corporate Banking since 2020, and CEO of J.P. Morgan in EMEA since 2017.

Raghavan’s educational background includes a BSc degree in Physics from The University of Bombay and a BSc honours degree in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from Aston University, UK. He is also a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

CEO Jane Fraser expressed excitement about Raghavan’s appointment, stating, “Vis is a proven leader and his appointment is another example of our ability to attract the best talent to our firm. He is a strategic leader who brings a strong track record of delivering results across a global banking business.”

Raghavan’s experience in banking and as EMEA CEO makes him the perfect partner to lead Citi’s Cluster and Banking Heads across Citi’s global network alongside Ernesto Torres Cantú, Head of International. Citi expects Raghavan to join this summer.
