Dubai, UAE – GE HealthCare, a prominent global player in medical technology and digital solutions, has unveiled an innovative collaboration with various health and humanitarian organizations in the UAE. This groundbreaking partnership aims to introduce the Middle East’s first mobile cardiac catheterization lab, revolutionizing cardiac care accessibility in the region.

The state-of-the-art mobile Cath Lab unit is designed to deliver essential diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures, free of cost, to patients in underserved areas across the UAE. With heart disease affecting over half of the UAE population during their lifetimes, this initiative addresses a critical need in the country’s healthcare landscape.

In a bid to tackle the pressing health burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and non-communicable diseases (NCD), GE Healthcare has joined forces with esteemed organizations such as the Dar Al Ber Society and the Emirates Resuscitation Council. These partnerships highlight the significance of collaborative efforts and social responsibility in addressing healthcare challenges.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by GE HealthCare and its partners in the presence of key dignitaries including Dr. Mohammed Suhail Al Muhairi, Yousef Al-Yateem, and Dr. Adel Al-Shamry Alajami. This strategic alliance underscores the commitment to advancing preventive measures and improving patient outcomes.

Under this initiative, similar Cath Lab units will be deployed in Egypt, Morocco, and Jordan during the subsequent phase, extending the reach of life-saving cardiac care across the region.

Cardiovascular disease remains a significant cause of mortality in the Middle East and North Africa, claiming over a third of all lives annually. The early onset of symptoms in UAE patients emphasizes the urgency of expanding access to specialized care and preventive measures.

Ehab Zawaideh, General Manager for the Middle East at GE HealthCare, emphasized the critical role of timely intervention in cardiac conditions. He highlighted the mobile Cath Lab’s potential to provide expert care closer to home, thereby enhancing patient outcomes and reducing mortality rates.

Dr. Adel Al-Shamry Alajami, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative and Chairman of Emirates Doctors, praised the initiative’s ability to alleviate patient burdens associated with long waiting times and financial costs. He emphasized the benefits of advanced imaging solutions and specialized medical expertise offered by the mobile Cath Lab.

Introduced as part of GE HealthCare’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the mobile Cath Lab exemplifies the company’s commitment to expanding healthcare access and equity. It embodies the vision of a world where healthcare knows no bounds, offering hope and life-saving interventions to communities in need.
