Abu Dhabi, UAE – Bosch is making strides in the development of green hydrogen technologies, recognizing its indispensability for a climate-neutral world. The company’s efforts span across various sectors, including transportation, buildings, and the manufacturing industry.

Central to Bosch’s initiative is the development of smart technologies for hydrogen production. The company is developing an electrolysis stack, the core of an electrolyzer. This stack, comprising over 100 electrolysis cells, uses electricity to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. It is designed for an output of 1.25 megawatts, equivalent to the production of 23 kilograms of H2 per hour. The resulting pressure on the hydrogen side exceeds 30 bar.

The Bosch electrolysis stack is versatile, suitable for use in smaller-scale plants as well as large gigawatt-scale plants. The technology is expected to be market-ready by 2025, with pilot projects with customers already in preparation for this year.

In addition, Bosch plans to combine the electrolysis stack with a control unit, power electronics, and various sensors to create a “smart electrolysis module.” These elements are designed to be compatible and save space, thereby optimizing system efficiency, reliability, installation, and setup.
