Dubai, UAE – The Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading authority for project professionals, has named Hanny Alshazly as the new Regional Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Alshazly takes over the MENA leadership role as PMI’s UAE Chapter celebrates its 10th anniversary. He brings nearly 30 years of experience in the higher education and eLearning industry, having held leadership positions driving strategy, growth, and innovation across international markets at firms like D2L, Blackboard, and Ellucian.
“It is an exciting time to be taking up this position just as the UAE Chapter enters its second decade,” said Alshazly. “As the MENA region navigates unprecedented opportunities with mega projects, I look forward to strengthening our capabilities and driving PMI’s success here.”
Chartered in 2014, the PMI UAE Chapter has grown to nearly 4,000 members from diverse backgrounds. It has nurtured project management talent and evolved practices alongside the UAE’s ambitious development projects across sectors like construction, infrastructure, energy and technology.
Adeel Sultan, President of the PMI UAE Chapter, said, “With groundbreaking projects announced in the UAE, our project managers build expertise through global partnerships. As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we remain committed to maximizing project success through best practices.”
The UAE Chapter has enabled professional development through webinars, workshops and events. It has raised awareness on UN Sustainable Development Goals, with members volunteering for initiatives like meal distribution, academic tours, and charitable events in 2023.
