Dubai, UAE – Dubai Police has been honored with three prestigious awards from the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy for their outstanding contributions to energy demand side management. The awards, presented under the esteemed “Dubai Program for Excellence in Energy Demand Side Management,” recognize the exemplary efforts of both institutions and individuals in fostering Dubai’s sustainable future through responsible energy and water usage, circular economy initiatives, innovation, and notable contributions to environmental sustainability.
The accolades were bestowed upon Dubai Police for three commendable sustainable projects. The “Exemplary Maintenance Project,” spearheaded by the General Department of Logistics, focuses on retrofitting Dubai Police buildings with cutting-edge energy-saving technologies. Another noteworthy initiative, the “Exemplary Solar Project,” also led by the General Department of Logistics, involves the implementation of solar panels to harness clean energy. Additionally, the “Exemplary EV Fleet” program, known as “i-Serve,” managed by the General Department of Transport and Rescue, has been recognized for its efforts in converting service vehicles into eco-friendly alternatives.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), conferred the awards during a prestigious ceremony held at the Four Seasons Jumeirah.
Highlighting the commitment of Dubai Police to fostering innovation and sustainability, Major General Ali Ghanem, Assistant Commandant for Community Happiness and Logistics at Dubai Police, underscored the guidance of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. Ghanem emphasized that the force remains steadfast in implementing projects and initiatives that adhere to best practices in energy efficiency, thus contributing to a sustainable environmental work culture in alignment with the vision of the Dubai Government.
Ghanem further emphasized the significance of the awards, stating that they underscore Dubai Police’s unwavering dedication to Dubai’s “Energy Demand Management Strategy.” This strategy aims to curtail energy and water consumption and promote a more sustainable future for the emirate. He commended the program for its role in inspiring institutions and individuals to strive towards the ambitious goal of reducing energy and water consumption by 30% by 2030. Ghanem affirmed Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to participating in initiatives that epitomize excellence across various domains, including energy management.
Brigadier Juma Ahmad bin Darwish Al Falasi, Acting Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, reiterated the organization’s commitment to embracing environmentally friendly practices in vehicle management. He highlighted the “i-Serve” electric vehicle project, which aims to transition service vehicles to eco-friendly alternatives, thereby achieving a significant reduction in petrol-dependent vehicles and supporting Dubai’s sustainability agenda.
