The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF) celebrated the winners of its 2023 awards in a ceremony held at the Majlis of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. The event recognised exceptional achievements in jewellery design, fine arts, performing arts, and sustainable design.
Awards Highlighting Talent and Creativity
The ADMAF Design Fund, in partnership with L’ÉCOLE School of Jewelry Arts supported by Van Cleef & Arpels, honoured Badria Ali Saif Salim, a University of Sharjah graduate, for her masterpiece, ‘Al Iqd Al Bahir.’ The piece symbolises the UAE’s rich heritage and cultural significance.
The Gulf Capital – ADMAF Visual Arts Award was presented to Sarra’a Abdulaziz Alshehhi, a Zayed University graduate, for her film ‘A Small Dream.’ The film portrays the dreams and struggles of its protagonist, Maitha.
The Gulf Capital – ADMAF Creativity Award was given to Director Mohamed Juma Ali Al Darmaki and his ensemble from the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy for their performance piece ‘Phobia.’
The TotalEnergies Sustainability Design Award recognised Sara AlMahmoud and Maryam AlQassim, students at the American University of Sharjah, for their project ‘The Makeshift City,’ a vision for Sharjah’s industrial areas in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Fostering Growth and Collaboration
Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, Founder of ADMAF, highlighted the pivotal role of partners in fostering the growth of the creative economy and cultural sectors within the country. She also celebrated the accomplishments of the talented Emirati youth and the role of universities in cultivating a creative generation.
Sophie Claudel, Director of L’ÉCOLE Middle East, expressed delight at the flourishing collaboration with ADMAF, which offers a distinguished platform for emerging artists to showcase and hone their talents.
Dr Karim El Solh, Co-Founder and CEO of Gulf Capital, commended the efforts of ADMAF for their commitment to investing in youth and nurturing their creative talents. He also extended his congratulations to the winners of the Creativity and Visual Arts Awards.
Samir Oumer, President of TotalEnergies EP UAE and TotalEnergies Country Chair, expressed delight at the continued collaboration with ADMAF in nurturing talents and encouraging emerging designers to contribute to UAE and global initiatives aimed at preserving the environment.
