Dubai, UAE – The Dubai Police recently held the closing ceremony for the fifth edition of the “Innovation, Research, and Development” diploma program. Dr Colonel Muhammad Hassan Al Janahi, Deputy Director of the General Department of Administrative Affairs, attended the event.
The intensive course included 22 participants from various departments within Dubai Police. It was organized by the force’s Innovation Council in collaboration with the General Department of Training, the Global Innovation Management Institute (GIMI), and consulting firm Sia Partners.
Launched four years ago under the directives of Lt Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, the diploma aims to promote a culture of sustainable innovation and talent development. “The goal is to support creative ideas with appropriate resources and adopt innovative projects to enhance police operations,” Col Al Janahi explained.
The comprehensive curriculum covered innovation concepts, strategies, leadership, culture and specialized programs. It was delivered by instructors from GIMI including Dr. Abdul Rahman Zreek and Fawzi Al-Asadi.
According to Maj Dr. Abdullah Ashkanani from the Knowledge, Innovation, and Development Department, the program features both theoretical and practical components, including field visits to technology firms and international best practice sites.
Since its 2020 launch, over 100 officers have graduated from the innovative diploma after undergoing rigorous selection, testing and project implementation at the Dubai Police Innovation Lab.
“Participants form teams to develop specialized innovative projects, with the best being supported and implemented by Dubai Police to assess their success before full rollout,” Ashkanani stated.
