Olbia, Italy – Team Abu Dhabi’s Thani Al-Qamzi emerged victorious in the second Sprint race, narrowly defeating CTIC China Team’s Peter Morin by 1.439 seconds. Al-Qamzi’s win was characterized by strategic driving and maintaining his position after a less-than-ideal start.

Al-Qamzi commented on his performance, saying, “My start wasn’t the best but I kept my position and then I drive easy. I didn’t push. I see the second place (Morin) was far away. The Grand Prix will not be easy. All the drivers are racing well. I feel the boat is very nice on this course.”

Peter Morin, who improved his boat’s performance, looked forward to the afternoon’s race, stating, “The race was amazing. We improved some things on the boat and it works. This afternoon I will start from third position and we will see what happens. Thani will be in front of me again with a rolling start so we will see what are the options. I had a very good start and saw him in my mirror. He was very close and I left him some space. We have another race today so I didn’t take any risks.”

Al-Qamzi’s teammate, Alberto Comparato, was on course for a podium finish but encountered handling issues, allowing Ferdinand Zandbergen of the Red Devil-SMC F1 Team to claim third place. The race was marked by a dramatic start, with Morin initially taking the lead before Al-Qamzi regained his position. Comparato secured third place early on but faced challenges that ultimately cost him the podium.

Despite a scare from Ahmad Al-Fahim, who nearly barrel-rolled his Victory Team hull, the race concluded with Al-Qamzi securing the win and adding 10 championship points to his tally. Morin finished second, followed by Zandbergen. Bartek Marszalek, Filip Roms, Alexandre Bourgeot, and Al-Fahim completed the top finishers.

The excitement in Olbia set the stage for the Grand Prix, with all drivers showing strong performances and strategic prowess.
