Emirates NBD donates over 5,000 electronic devices to support educational needs of underprivileged students

Dubai, UAEEmirates NBD, a leading banking group in the MENAT (Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye) region, has donated over 5,000 electronic devices to help bridge the digital divide for underprivileged students worldwide.

The donation was made to Ecyclex, a UAE-based company providing customized and comprehensive recycling solutions, particularly focusing on electronic waste. Ecyclex, certified by Dubai Chamber, Trakhees, Dubai Municipality, Sharjah Municipality, and Tadweer in Abu Dhabi, plays a crucial role in the circular economy by refurbishing and recycling electronic devices.

These refurbished devices will be handed over to The Digital School, a collaborative initiative between Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and Emirates Red Crescent. This program aims to provide underprivileged students globally with access to the necessary technology for internet access and educational resources.

Emirates NBD’s commitment to sustainability is evident through its meaningful partnerships with community organizations, aimed at empowering local communities. This recent donation to The Digital School is expected to support 8,512 students, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 10,868 kilograms, and save 3,043.04 cubic feet of landfill space. By recycling electronic devices, Emirates NBD contributes to reducing e-waste, addressing a significant environmental concern.
