News DeskAbu Dhabi, UAE – The Green Youth Majlis, an initiative by the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), has revealed its Youth Committee Structure for 2024-2025, coinciding with International Youth Day. This day acknowledges the crucial role of young people in advancing sustainable development goals. The Green Youth Majlis aims to empower future environmental leaders, providing them with a platform to actively contribute to the region’s sustainability efforts.
Ahmed Al Shaibah, a longstanding member since 2015, will assume the role of Main Youth Advisor. Following a stellar performance last year, Majid bin Saad has been appointed as Youth Advisor, while Dana Al Dhaen will serve as President, recognized for her dedication and passion for the Green Youth Majlis. Moza Salem Al Harrasi will take on the role of Vice President, noted for her active involvement in environmental initiatives. Additionally, Merah Alhefeiti will lead the Climate Change Main Committee, and Maithah Alhefeiti will head the Biodiversity Committee. Maryam Al Ansari, affiliated with various communication youth activities, will serve as Communications Leader. Saif Al Ameri, known for his championing of youth causes, will lead the Recycling Committee, and Omar Al Hashemi will take on the role of Excellence Leader.
The newly elected members will play a key role in furthering EAD’s mission to promote environmental sustainability and climate action. They will be responsible for organizing environmental campaigns, engaging the community, and spearheading innovative projects that tackle urgent environmental challenges.
Rasha Ali Al Madfai, Acting Director of the Environmental Awareness Department at EAD, commended the new committee members for their passion and dedication, highlighting their contributions to key environmental strategies, such as the UN Decade on ecosystem restoration and various citizen science initiatives.
Majid bin Saad, the newly appointed Youth Advisor, expressed his enthusiasm about continuing his advocacy for a sustainable future, while Dana Al Dhaen, the new President, emphasized the importance of creating sustainable solutions inspired by the region’s unique environmental context.
With over 650 members aged 18-35, the Green Youth Majlis convenes quarterly to discuss and address environmental challenges. Since its inception in 2019, 232 members have contributed more than 970 hours across 60 events, including beach clean-ups and informative sessions on environmental issues.
The Green Youth Majlis is part of EAD’s naha platform, designed to transform climate intentions into impactful actions, encouraging youth and community participation in sustainability efforts.
