News DeskDubai, UAE – Baseball United, the first professional baseball league focused on the Middle East and South Asia, has announced plans to build the region’s first professional baseball field and ballpark. The new facility will be located within The Sevens sports and entertainment complex on Al-Ain Road, just a short drive from downtown Dubai.
The Baseball United Ballpark, as it is tentatively called, will be the only professional baseball venue across a vast expanse of territory stretching from Morocco to India and Bangladesh. The ballpark will feature state-of-the-art amenities, including a dual fiber synthetic turf optimized for Dubai’s climate, a cutting-edge LED lighting system with BallTracker® technology, and a modular seating arrangement accommodating up to 6,500 fans.
In addition to its modern features, the ballpark will pay homage to baseball’s rich history with a traditional scoreboard modeled after 19th-century professional games in the U.S. The dimensions of the ballpark have been inspired by Yankee Stadium, with fences measuring 318 feet to left field, 314 feet to right field, and 408 feet to center field.
The playing field will be named after Major League Baseball legend and Baseball United Co-Founder Barry Larkin, who expressed his excitement about the project. “It has been a dream come true to bring this league to life… and now, to have a field and ballpark of our own – it’s incredible,” said Larkin.
Construction of the ballpark begins this week, with completion expected by the end of the year. The new venue will host Baseball United’s two major events next year – the Baseball United Cup and Baseball United Season One, with the possibility of the Arab Classic national team event taking place there this November.
The Sevens, home to the Emirates Dubai 7s, will also become the region’s only joint bat-and-ball complex, further solidifying its status as a premier multi-sport destination. Mathew Tait, General Manager of The Sevens Stadium, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We can’t wait to ‘play ball’ here in Dubai.”
