Fujairah Environment Authority launches “A book series on the natural history of Fujairah”

Fujairah, UAE – The Fujairah Environment Authority has launched a book series on “The Natural History of Fujairah”, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Environment Authority. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Al Bahar Hotel & Resort in Fujairah.

The first edition, “The Natural History of Fujairah,” serves as a comprehensive guide covering various aspects of the emirate’s environment. The series, consisting of seven editions, aims to shed light on Fujairah’s transformations over time. H.E. Eng. Aseela Moalla, Director of Fujairah Environment Authority, emphasized the series’ value as a resource for researchers, specialists, students, and individuals interested in Fujairah’s natural history.

The upcoming titles in the series include “Archaeology of Fujairah,” “Whales and Dolphins in Fujairah,” “Plants in Fujairah,” “Birds in Fujairah,” “Reptiles in Fujairah,” and “Geology of Fujairah.” The series, a collaborative effort involving 16 experts, addresses both marine and wildlife, environmental impacts, and the influence of human activities on the natural world.

Dr. Michele C. Ziolkowski, an archaeologist and co-author of the first book, highlighted its coverage of Fujairah’s vibrant landscape and diverse natural sites. The late historian and researcher Peter Hellyer, along with editor Balazs Buzas and various experts, researchers, and photographers, contributed to the creation of “The Natural History of Fujairah.”

This series represents the first environmental and archaeological database for Fujairah, providing specialized studies and research, some of which are unveiled for the first time. It aligns with the emirate’s commitment to environmental preservation, fostering community awareness, and sustaining its natural resources.
